Conzentric's second online seminar took place in November 2021, and we are excited to welcome the graduates of CZT-Europe #5 to the CZT family. From November 25 - 28, passionate tanglers from around the world immersed themselves in everything Zentangle. It was a wonderful and intense time for all of us, and the result is that there are 140 new CZTs in the Zentangle world.
Our second online seminar was a milestone, because we were able to offer four seminar languages: German, English, French and Spanish. Making it possible for more people to get CZT training in their native language has been the goal of the CZT-Europe seminars from the very beginning. This was the first time that Spanish-speaking attendees could follow the seminar completely in Spanish.
Our trusty English translators, Liz and Herbert, were on site to translate into English, and three experienced CZTs - Juliette (French), Maria and Oswaldo (Spanish) - translated remotely. It worked beautifully, and it was also kind of cool to switch through the four audio channels during the seminar and listen in on each language.
The four languages were well received, and we had about one fourth of our attendees in each language group. As always, tanglers joined us from just about every corner of the globe:
The online seminar takes place in many separate physical locations throughout the world. Nonetheless, we were able to feel a strong sense of connection with each other through social media, the webinar chat, and Zoom meetings. On the first day, many attendees shared pictures of their workspaces in the Facebook group. Even though we could not be in the same physical room, I felt these images helped us “see” each other while we tangled and talked.
Pauline Hanfi (Switzerland) has a comfy spot
Alma Sanchez (Spain) was joined by her cat
Jasmin Müller (Germany) borrowed her son's room
Yuko Ohashi (Japan) has organized everything she needs
On our end, the technical set-up was quite extensive. Lights, cameras, monitors, speakers, a translation booth and more. Our thanks here go to Christoph, our reliable and flexible technician - who also tangled along at times.
Throughout this post we have included a sampling of the beautiful artwork created by our attendees: the tile with the string "5" that we sent attendees ahead of time. You can view these tiles, and in fact all of our seminar tiles on the Zentangle Mosaic App. Simply put the hashtag #czteu5 into a search. I really encourage you to have a look. I was only able to include a small selection of these beauties in this post, and honestly, I had to make myself stop before I "selected" every single tile in the mosaic.
You can download the Zentangle Mosaic App from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. Searching and viewing are free, additional features require a subscription.
We have one special mention among CZT-EU #5 graduates: our own Ilona Thurn. Ilona joined Conzentric at the end of 2020, and has been supporting us with seminar registration, bookkeeping, invoices, and more. We think it's just wonderful that she decided to also become a CZT.
