Step-out of the month for November 2024: Adamantis

Oswaldo Burbano Sandoval lives in Spain and became a CZT in 2019 at the first European seminar! Oswaldo works with many Zentangle Teams and teaches this beautiful method of drawing all over the world. Later this month Oswaldo will be teaching and translating into Spanish at the CZT European seminar 8 in Munich.

This month we introduce to you Oswaldo’s latest tangle called Adamantis. Adamantis can be tangled in two ways, with the first steps being either straight or curved, followed by S curves to create a weaving ribbon effect.

Here Oswaldo tell us how he was inspired to deconstruct Adamantis:

"One of the first landmarks of Spain I visited soon after arriving was the Alhambra in Granada (Andalucía, Spain). Since that very moment and even without having heard a word of Zentangle, I got really impressed by its architecture and especially the tremendously elaborated decoration over the walls. It is evident the presence of those charming rooms full of history and designs in some of my workshops. On the way to decode those patterns, I have found tons of inspiration and here is exactly the origin of Adamantis, a pattern that plays with the repetition of both straight and curvy lines alike. Its name refers to an archaic form of Latin word of a stone that became a symbol of durability, indestructibility and purity."
