Step-out of the month for Juli 2023: azura

For the month of July, we were quite delighted to share another one of Theresa Fessler's step-outs: a fascinating, star-like tangle called azura. Theresa, who is a gifted and productive tangle deconstructor, shared her tangle Lyra with us for the November 2022 step-out of the month. Before sharing Theresa's own words about azura, it's helpful to know that her many tangles evolve from each other through slight variations, which at some point become significant enough to require a new name and step-out. Thus, she groups her tangles into families, and you can learn about these families on her website here. But a word of caution - you may want to wait until you have a few hours time to lose yourself in this fascinating visual world.

Azura, as Theresa writes, "belongs to the Aihsd family. It evolved from !ion.

"When I first drew it, it reminded me of the artifact Azura's Star from the Elder Scrolls* series. That's how it got its name.

"It consists of a circle, S-curves and C-arcs and has a very nice three-dimensional effect.

"When stacked on top of each other, azura tastes cold and sweet, like a vanilla flavored soft ice cream.

"The circle in the center likes to change size, sometimes it's just a tiny dot, other times it's so big you can even put a zengem in it.

"The tips offer quite a few variation possibilities and are always added for the lowest level, but can also be added on the other levels."

*The "Elder Scrolls" is an active, role-playing video game series.
