September Step-out of the month: Bounees

Bounees is a tangle by Ranjana Tochtermann. When I first saw her step-out, I misread the name as "Bounces" and used this name in the SOOTM newsletter, thus spreading my misreading throughout the tangling world before my error was gently pointed out to me. Since I could not unsend the newsletter or change the hashtags at that point, I consulted Ranjana, who very graciously and without hesitation agreed that it was OK to leave things as they were. However, I have since decided it would be preferable to use the correct name going forward.

We picked Bounees for the September step-out from submissions sent to us by subscribers of the SOOTM newsletter. We chose the step-out per random selection. It went like this:

Ranjana became a CZT at the first CZT-Europe seminar in May 2019 and she is from Switzerland. "Bounees" came about while she was playing with lines. She writes:

"My way of coming up with patterns is usually the same: I'm feeling a bit bored and begin to look for a new approach - psychologically and artistically - and that's how all my patterns come about. The path is the goal, and not how a pattern should look. It is more the desire to become new every day that makes me always look for new approaches."

Ranjana is active on Facebook and has a Facebook Group for tangling called "TanZENgel"  - an anagram for "Zentangle" that in German means "dance angel" - and she would love it if more people joined. You can also find her on Instagram as "Tanzengelin".
